Four Degrees of Great Television

I watch TV. It's just something that I do. However, in recent months I have watched it less, as all the best shows just weren't on anymore (being cancelled or what have you). Anywho, within the last month, I have noticed that 4 of possibly the best shows to be produced are back on the air (in re-run form, yes. But, it's still good!)
Being a fan, I watch these shows as frequently as I can. After a while, I began to notice something: beyond all being superior shows, they all had something else connecting them. Then, I realized that they had a "___ Degrees of Kevin Bacon" type thing between them (but, sadly, without Kevin Bacon needing to be dragged in... though, he should connect in some way...). Anyways, without any further ado, here is 4 degrees of:

(Mission Hill)

Begining the chain is the show which, of these ones, came out first. Monty Python's Flying Circus was (and still is) one of the most groundbreaking television programs to ever be made. It's sense of humour was years ahead of anything else around. Even today, much of it is lost. But, those who do get it truly enjoy it and see it for what it is: Brilliant.
So lets look at it: a sketch comedy show, made up entirely of 5 men (not counting Terry Gilliam right now) who often dressed in drag, and were years ahead in terms of comedy and writing. This sounds an awful lot like the second link in the chain, The Kids in the Hall: 5 men, often dressed in drag and were years ahead in terms of comedy and writing.

The influence Monty had on the Kids is easy to see. Where Monty broke the ground, KITH built upon it a citadel of pure genius (not gonna say anything too big, judge for yourself).

The Third link of the chain can be reached quite easily. After the Kids in the Hall was ended, the guys took time off, each coming up with their own projects. One of them (Dave Foley) went on to star in the NBC sitcom, NewsRadio.

(believe it or not, it's the same guy!)

NewsRadio, another show far ahead of it's time didn't have the good fortune of the previous 2 programs. It was almost too smart for audiences, thus it was never really settled in a slot for more than a few weeks. While it's run was 5 years (thus tying with the other 2) where Monty and KITH called it quits, NewsRadio simply got cancelled by the network. However, I still believe it to be one of the best sitcoms to be made in the past 15 years. Take that Tony danza!

The forth and final link of the chain actually had to be looked for, because it's quite obscure, but not really (does that even make sense?). One of the other stars of NewsRadio was miss Vicki Lewis, as the secretary, Beth. Vicki Lewis is also the voice of one of the room mates on Mission Hill, Posey.

Mission Hill was one of the most clever cartoons on "Teletoon Unleashed" Though, it was not officially "cancelled" there has been little to no info given about a second season being made.

Well, there we have it. The best TV has to offer all has a connection in some way or another. I suppose this shouldn't come as a surprise. Great works begate more greats. Yup... I likes TV.
