James F.W.'s Adventure in Making a Christmas Village!

As many of you who know me and have been to my house around the holiday season know, every year since I was about 8, I've had a little Christmas tree that I decorate and build a village around. It's kinda tradition. The village usually consists of old Christmas decorations that no longer made it onto the big tree upstair for various reasons. However, over the past couple of years, I've been adding to the population of the village with some little personal tastes of mine. I'll show you what I mean in this holiday edition of the 'adventures' series: My adventure in making a Christmas village (yup, just like it say up there in h3 font... all makes sense now, huh?)

This is the village as a whole. The tree is starting to get awfully "Charlie Brown" but that's okay. I still loves the little thing. But, this is just an overview. Let's move in closer to see some of the people who take up residence here. Fun!

Here's the famed KFC 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' figures from a few years ago. They're quite 'Christmas', what with that "Christmastime is Near" song. However, over the years, I lost Alvin. So, fresh of his appearance in 'The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" now playing the part of Alvin is the Witchking! He seems to fit in quite nicely with Simon and Theodore, and the candy cane makes him somewhat less ominous (but not really... what with the lack of a face...).

If you look in the background of that pic, you can see one of Santa's magical elves (Orco from 'He-Man'). He's pretty awesome too. But very frightened of the Witchking. I would be too, but I'm like 100 times bigger than him. So the threat he poses is... naw, he could still take me.

This is the little sub-village of the Christmas Village. Kinda like a sub-division, I guess. They are a very tightly knit community, and have a statue comemmorating their favorite Christmas special. That one where Garfield gets a back-scatcher. That IS a pretty good one.

Here they are: the famous 'ghosts of Christmas' - past, present and future. Here they are played by the ghosts of Star Wars characters. Yoda is the ghost of Christmas-past; Obi-Wan of Christmas-present; and Anakin is the ghost of Christmas-future (cuz he was Darth Vader, so he gets to be the scary ghost). It's funny, cuz last year in Peterborough I had that very Witchking from earlier playing the ghost of Christmas-future. I dunno which he likes more: Alvin, or scary-Dickensian-ghost, but I think I heard him hum earlier the "I wish I had a hula-hoop!" He's having fun.

This one is more of a concept shot. It's what would happen if Christmas carolers were suddenly hunted down as prey to a dinosaur (the dinosaur is played by my baby growling dinosaur, Tokyo. He's having fun too). The carolers don't seem too scared. Or even observant. They are so screwed. There's gonna be a few more orphans this holiday season, I guess.

That isn't the WHOLE village of course. There's a little hill with the A&W bear sledding, and a couple of snowmen and presents (tape cases in pretty paper) and whatnot. However, I don't have any pictures of them. Plus, I'm getting kinda hungry, so I'm gonna go eat now. I hope you enjoyed this little view at my Christmas Village. Dude - it was totally an adventure. Werd.
