Interpol - Antics

This, the latest Interpol release, doesn't hold the punch that their debut album, Turn on the Bright Lights did, but is nonetheless Interpol. This quartet may sound like they're from Manchester, may look like they're from Manchester, but, brother, they ain't from Manchester. These New York lads pull together a sound that is as sparse, morose and understated as any industrial northern town group could hope to, and do so convincingly. Strong musicianship and introspective moods and lyrics are what set these guys apart from most of the music that is readily accessible these days. They know how to set a mood and do it.

Antics is a pretty good album and will complement Turn on the Bright Lights quite nicely. However, if you don't already own the first album, I'd suggest buying it ahead of this album. You'll get more for your money.
