Optimus Prime vs. Optimus Primal
It recently came to my attention how much the show "Beast Wars" or "Beast Machines"
or whatever pales in comparison to the original "the Transformers" (probably one
of the best shows ever. Now, in thinking about this subject (sad I know), I figured
out several reasons for this lack of credibility in the newer series, the greatest of
all being leadership. The leader of the "Maximals" (a terrible name by the way,
especially considering that the decepticons got to keep the names "Decepticons"
even though they to are animals) is Optimus Primal, a big gorilla, who meditates
almost constantly and gets seriously injured every other episode. The leader of
the Autobots, and possibly one of the greatest leaders fo all time, is Optimus
Prime, a big ass Mack truck, with a giant gun, who has recovered from such illnesses
as death... twice! Prime: 1 , Primal: 0.
Also, simply look at their fighting leadership skills in a fight: in an episode
of "Beast Wars" I had the misfortune to watch, Primal decided to run from the
fight, since Megatron was "no longer a threat... for now!" (great writing by the way).
In a similar situation, in "The Transformers Movie", Prime had just kicked Megatron's
ass, and was standing over his beaten body. He could haev ket him go, but that
would be stupid, so he shot him. Wow! Ending evil! What an odd thing for a
leader to do! Prime: 2 , Primal: 0.
Also, the plain fact that Prime has already won where Primal failed. This
being that Megatron on "Beast Machines" was a T-Rex, that the Maximals could
not defeat under the leadership of Primal. Now then, if you will remember, in
the series "the Transformers" there were also dino-bots, that for a tiem were
evil. How long did it take to defeat them under the leadership of Prime? I think
it was 2 epsiodes. Wow. And, to top that, Prime convinced the dino-bots to
join them. Good job Prime. Prime: 3 , Primal: 0.
One more amusing point. Situation: "Beast Wars", Primal was in a avalanche
adn was dying (wussy), nothing could be done to save him. Then, despite the
disadvantage of being dead for a few thousand years, the ghost of Optimus Prime
shows up and saves his sorry ass. In my opinion, he probably shouldn't have,
but that's what makes Prime Prime. Prime: 6 (2 bonus points for not being
restricted by death for a third time), Primal: 0.
There are many, many more points too, but I feel they can simply be assumed
by you, the reader.
