Sequels that Just Should not be Made
I hate it when a sequel is made just because the first movie was popular, despite the fact that there’s really no need, story wise, for said sequel. Case in point, “2 Fast, 2 Furious,” the sequel to the Vin Diesel classic (only time you will ever see that) “The Fast and the Furious,” except this one doesn’t even have Vin (what a weird first name that is to say without adding the last…). However awful that is, it is surprisingly NOT the subject fo this here rant. This one is against a foe FAR more diabolical and stupid. I’m talking about “Charlotte’s Web 2: Wilbur’s Big Adventure”
My main problem with this is that “Charlotte’s Web” ends so overly good! It’s like the “Empire Strikes Back” of children’s literature. Charlotte dies, Wilbur has no friends (other than the infant daughter of Charlotte) and that’s it. It teaches a lesson, and is just overly kickass. That’s even how the movie ended - they didn’t change it like they’ve done to so many other children’s classics (mostly at the hands of Disney… not saying anything bad about Disney movies, I’m just saying is all…) so yeah, really how could you add to that? The answer (apparently) have Wilbur running around (cuz apparently he lost all that weight he had at the end of the book and also went back to being a piglet…sigh) with 2 baby spiders - one has little pigtails, so she’s assumed to be a girl; the other has a little tuft of hair and A TINY BALL CAP!!! Dear god! A tiny ball cap?! What were they thinking?! Charlotte is rolling over in her grave.
I guess I just find it a little odd to see Wilbur having a “big adventure” with fun and dancing and songs and such, when his lifelong best friend ever has just recently died. I guess mourning really takes a back seat to a musical adventure. However, that’s only a guess as I did only see one commercial for it, and I never plan on seeing it based on principle if nothing else. I’ll keep my memories of Charlotte true, thank you very much.
I’d also like to note that I won’t be venturing out to see the new “Fast and Furious” movie either. That one… I just don’t like retarded movies. And… um… I wanna keep my memories of Vin… true..???
